Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines
Insightia Journal of Research and Innovation welcomes submissions in pharmacy and applied sciences. The journal publishes original research, reviews, and concise reports under a rigorous peer-review policy. Authors should follow these guidelines when preparing manuscripts.
Manuscript Types
Insightia accepts the following article types:
Original Research Article: Full-length reports of original experiments or studies. These should present new, scientifically sound findings and include an Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials & Methods, Results, Discussion, and (optional) Conclusions.
Review Article: Comprehensive surveys of the literature on a specific topic. Reviews should analyze current research, identify gaps, and suggest future directions. No new unpublished data are reported. Typical sections include Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, thematic sections, Discussion, Conclusions and (optionally) Future Perspectives.
Short Communication/Brief Report: Concise reports of novel results (typically ≤2,000 words). These focus on a single finding or method and contain a structured Abstract, brief Intro, concise Methods/Results, and short Conclusion.
Case Report/Case Study: Descriptions of specific cases or phenomena with educational value. These should have an Introduction, Case Presentation, Discussion, and Conclusions. Word limit 3,000 words, excluding references. Up to 50 references are encouraged.
Letter to the Editor: Short, focused comments or preliminary observations (max 1,500 words) on work already published or current issues. Letters are not formal research articles and do not include an abstract or structured subheadings.
Editorial/Commentary: Invited pieces or scholarly opinions; usually by invitation only.
Each submission should conform to the type selected; e.g. original articles report comprehensive methods and data, whereas reviews synthesize existing literature.
Manuscript Preparation and Formatting
- Language: Manuscripts must be written in clear, grammatical English. Use US or UK spelling consistently.
- File Format: Submit editable files (DOCX or LaTeX). Use our template or format for readability (12‑pt font, double-spaced, single-column layout). Include line numbers for review.
- Title Page: The first page should list the title (no abbreviations), author names with affiliations (superscript letters if multiple), and full contact details for the corresponding author (email, phone, postal address).
- Abstract: Provide a concise, structured abstract (≤300 words) summarizing the study’s purpose, methods, key results, and conclusions. Do not cite references or use uncommon abbreviations in the abstract.
- Keywords: After the abstract, list 4–8 keywords for indexing. Avoid general terms (like “study” or “result”) and include relevant subject terms.
- Main Text: Organize the manuscript into the standard sections (Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions). Sections may be further divided by subsections as needed. The Introduction should set context and objectives. The Materials & Methods section must provide enough detail for reproducibility, citing established methods when appropriate. Results should present data clearly; Discussion should interpret findings in context. Do not include methods or results in the Introduction.
- Figures and Tables: Embed figures and tables in the main text near their first citation. Number them sequentially as Figure 1, Figure 2, … and Table 1, Table 2, … according to their order of appearance. Each figure/table must have a concise caption and be cited in the text. Figures should be high-resolution (≥400 dpi) in PNG, JPEG or TIFF format. Use color as needed (no extra fee). Table columns should have headings; use standard formatting (no spreadsheets or images of tables). Always discuss each figure/table in the text before showing it.
- Equations and Units: Number equations consecutively (if any). Use standard scientific units (SI) and define non-standard abbreviations at first use. Spell out units in text or use standard symbols (mg/L, etc.).
- Supplementary Material: If needed, supporting data or methods can be submitted as supplementary files (Excel, CSV, etc.). Clearly refer to them in the text (e.g. “Table S1 in Supplementary Material”).
References and Citations
- Style: Use the Vancouver (numeric) style for citations: number references in the text in order of appearance and list them in that order at the end[12]. Cite numbers in square brackets in-text (e.g. [1], [2–4]). Do not use footnotes or author-date.
- Formatting: In the reference list, give full details: authors, title, journal (abbreviated), year, volume(issue):pages (see examples below). Include all authors up to 6; for 7 or more, list the first 6 followed by “et al.”. Provide DOIs or URLs for online sources when available. Examples (modified from ICMJE/Vancouver style) are given below:
- Journal article: Author A, Author B. Title of article. Abbrev J Title. 2021;12(3):123–130.
- Book: Author C, Author D. Book Title. 2nd ed. City: Publisher; 2019.
- Web page: Author E. Title [Internet]. Year [cited 2025 Mar 1]. Available from: URL
- Software and Code: If applicable, cite any software or code used (e.g. R, MATLAB) in a manner similar to references.
- Reference Accuracy: Ensure every reference is cited in the text and vice versa. Double-check author names, spellings, and page numbers.
Submission Instructions
Manuscripts should be submitted online via the journal’s submission portal (see Submission on our website). The corresponding author must register, enter author details, and upload the manuscript files (including cover letter). Word or PDF formats are acceptable, but use our template for Word or LaTeX to expedite production. All authors must approve the submission and meet authorship criteria. The submission system will collect author contributions, conflicts of interest, and suggested reviewers. Once submitted, the manuscript will undergo initial checks before peer review.
If needed, inquiries about submission can be sent to the editorial office (see Contact below), but final submission must use the online system.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts are subject to double-blind peer review: the identities of authors and reviewers remain concealed. Typically, 2–3 experts evaluate each paper for originality, validity, significance, and clarity. The Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor manages the review, makes decisions, and communicates them to authors. Decisions may be: accept, revise (major/minor), or reject. Authors should respond to reviewer comments promptly. We strive to provide authors with timely and constructive feedback. Final acceptance requires favorable recommendations from reviewers and editorial approval.
Ethical Policies
Authors must adhere to ethical standards of research and publication:
Originality & Plagiarism: Submitted work must be original and unpublished. Properly cite all sources. Suspected plagiarism (including self-plagiarism) is prohibited; detected plagiarism at any stage may lead to rejection or retraction.
Authorship: Only individuals who made significant intellectual contributions should be listed as authors. Authorship credit should follow ICMJE criteria (concept, design, data, and drafting). All authors must approve the final manuscript. Changes to authorship (addition/removal) after submission are not allowed without editor approval.
Disclosure: Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest or financial support in the manuscript. If relevant, list funding sources and grant numbers.
Human Subjects: Research involving human participants (including surveys, clinical data, human-derived specimens) must have prior approval from an institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee. Include a statement of ethical approval and informed consent in the Methods. Studies should conform to the Declaration of Helsinki or equivalent standards. Trial registration numbers (for clinical trials) must be provided.
Animal Studies: Experiments on animals must follow internationally accepted guidelines for animal care and use. Authors must obtain and cite prior approval from an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or equivalent. Include the name of the approving committee and permit number in the manuscript. Studies should comply with ARRIVE reporting guidelines for animal research.
Research Misconduct: The journal adheres to ICMJE and COPE guidelines for ethical conduct. Falsification, fabrication, or unethical behavior will result in rejection or retraction.
Figures and Tables
- Quality: Submit figures at high resolution (≥400 dpi) as noted. Graphs and charts should be clear, with legible text and symbols.
- Placement: Each figure/table is numbered in order of appearance and cited in the text. Place figures and tables within the manuscript file near where they are first mentioned. Combine sub-panels into a single multi-part figure if needed.
- Captions: Provide a descriptive caption for each figure/table. Captions should include enough detail to understand the content without referring back to the text. Define any symbols or abbreviations.
- Permissions: If reusing a previously published figure/table, obtain permission and note the source in the caption.
- Formatting: Tables should be editable (not images). Ensure columns have headings and units. Very large tables may be uploaded as supplementary material if needed.
Publication Charges and Open Access
Insightia is a fully open access journal. There is no submission fee, but an Article Processing Charge (APC) is payable upon acceptance to cover editorial and production costs. (For example, a comparable journal charges INR 2000 and USD 340 per article.) APC waivers or discounts may be available for authors from low‑income countries on request. Authors will be informed of the APC during the submission process. After payment of the APC, the article will be published immediately with free public access.
Licensing
Articles in Insightia are published under a Creative Commons license. Specifically, authors retain copyright and grant users the right to use, share, and adapt the work with proper attribution. For open access publication, you will sign an agreement for a Creative Commons license (typically CC BY) that allows free reuse with attribution. This enables maximum dissemination while protecting author rights.
